Inspired by Gretchen Rubin and her book and also inspired by what I have learned from working with a life coach the last several months, I decided to create my own list of commandments.  I first created my commandments several months ago, and they do evolve.  Over New Year’s I tweaked my list and they are as follows:

  • Be Debbie
  • Love unguarded
  • One thing at a time
  • Spending time on things I like is not a waste of time
  • Identify the real cause or problem
  • Relationships override projects and to do lists
  • Make time for marriage and connecting.
  • Listen
  • Being right is over rated
  • Sleep makes me more productive and happy
  • Lighten up
  • Enjoy the moment
  • Don’t wait for perfect
  • Spoiling me and others is a privilege and OK
  • Be grateful
  • Choose simple and unpretentious

These are guidelines for how I want to live and feel.  How I want to experience life and others and how I want them to experience me.  I have them posted in a lot of places as a constant reminder.  They make me feel grounded and remind me of what I have found to be really important and meaningful.

What about you?  Do you have guidelines, rules, commandments, or something else that keeps you focused on how you want to be and experience things?  Please share with me if you do.
